Moxquin XG Eye Drops: Each ml contains Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride USP 5.45 mg equivalent to Moxifloxacin 5 mg.
Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride is a slightly yellow to yellow crystalline powder. Moxquin XG is a sterile ophthalmic solution. It is an 8-methoxy Fluoroquinolone anti-infective for topical ophthalmic use.
Moxquin XG eye drops is indicated for the treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis caused by susceptible strains of the following organisms:
Aerobic Gram-positive microorganisms:
Corynebacterium species, Micrococcus luteus, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Staphylococcus haemolyticus, Staphylococcus hominis, Staphylococcus warneri, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus viridans group.
Aerobic Gram-negative microorganisms:
Acinetobacter lwoffii, Haemophilus influenzae, Haemophilus parainfluenzae
Other microorganisms: Chlamydia trachomatis
Adults and children (above 4 months of age): One drop in infected eye(s) two times a day for 7 days.
Burning, dry or itching eyes; change in vision; eye discharge; pain in eye; redness of eye; swelling of eye, eyelid, or inner lining of eyelid; tearing.
As with other anti-infectives, prolonged use may result in overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms, including fungi. If superinfection occurs, discontinue use and institute alternative therapy. To prevent contamination do not touch the tip of the dropper to eye, eyelid or any surface of the affected eye. Keep the bottle tightly closed after use.
Pregnancy category C. No adequate and well-controlled studies are established in pregnant women. Moxquin XG solution should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
